Graduate Students awarded U.S. Department of Energy’s Science Graduate Student Research Award

Congratulations to materials science and engineering graduate student, Alex Kane, and chemical engineering graduate student, Jennifer Nill, who were both selected to receive the U.S. Department of Energy‘s Science Graduate Student Research Award. Alex and Jennifer are among 52 SCGSR recipients who will conduct part of their doctoral dissertation research in one the DOE’s 12 national laboratories. Their proposed research projects address scientific challenges central to mission areas across the DOE’s six Office of Science’s research programs.

Alex’s project, “Depth Resolved Spin Textures in Perovskite Oxide Heterostructures,” will be performed at the Spallation Neutron Source, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Jennifer’s project, “Novel in situ imaging and measurement technologies for biological systems science,” will be performed at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
