Prof. Castro and his team have focused for years on a thermodynamic description of two problems traditionally considered more fundamentally kinetically controlled: nanostability and sintering. Their paper on the subject, “Nanostability and Sintering: The Thermodynamic Perspective,” presents a review on the energetic effect of dopants on the stability of nanoparticles and on densification process of ceramics. The community acknowledged their work by selecting it as a Feature Article and cover image for one of the most respected journals in the field.
